Public Information Meetings Board of Supervisors Meeting Agenda Item The Board will consider and may vote to approve a contract for the preparation of the Environmental Assessment (EA) required for the National Environmental Protection Act and the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) required under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). A Public Scoping Meeting took place in July 2008 to provide an opportunity for agency staff and members of the public to submit comments regarding the scope of the environmental issues to be addressed in the Environmental Impact Report (EIR). Draft Airport Master Plan Update Public Meetings took place in September 2007. The November 2007 Draft Final Master Plan Update was reviewed and accepted by the County of Sonoma Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, December 4, 2007. After the Board approves a contract for the preparation of the EA and EIR, the Environmental Review process begins. This process will take 12-18 months to complete. Existing and potential environmental effects and appropriate mitigating measures will be considered throughout the Environmental Review process. There will be the opportunity for the public to make comments at public hearings during the Environmental Review. It is anticipated those meetings will be scheduled in fall 2009. Meeting dates and times will be posted at that time. After the Environmental Review is complete the Board of Supervisors will consider and may vote to certify the Environmental Review documents and will consider adoption of the Master Plan Update. |
